Questions Frequently Asked by Parents of New Elementary Students
When should I apply for admission? (Click to open or close)
The admission process begins in January for the upcoming school year which starts in August. The school accepts applications until available student openings are filled. If you would like your child to attend Country Day it is important for you to submit your application as soon as possible. If you would like to transfer to our school during the school term, please call our office for possible openings.
What are the steps in the application process? (Click to open or close)
The process begins with a parent visit to the school. Parents visit with a school administrator, tour the school, and ask any question they may have. If the parent(s) wishes to proceed with enrollment, a student-administrator interview is scheduled. The school requires teacher and principal recommendation forms from your child’s current school. The recommendation form is available in our office and should be returned directly to our school. When making the recommendation request to your current school, you will find it helpful to include a stamped envelope addressed to Country Day School for convenient return. We ask you to share with us and educational assessments pertaining to gifted ⁄ talented, speech and language, or learning concerns. A completed registration form, a signed enrollment contract, and registration fee is then returned to the school’s office. If an opening is not available for your child, your registration fee will be returned.
Will my child be tested? (Click to open or close)
Believing in age appropriate assessment practices, our school will ask for child work samples, a possible observation in your child’s current educational setting, and any age appropriate checklist has been completed by the child’s current teacher. If your child is entering kindergarten, a time will be scheduled for assessment during the summer months before school begins. The results of this assessment will be used to better plan your child’s individual academic goals.
Do you have a before and after school program? (Click to open or close)

Our school offers and excellent academic support program. The program offers time for one on one instruction to students who may need extra assistance in an area of study. As a result, children often feel more successful in the classroom and establish a strong foundation for future academic growth.
How will I know my child has been accepted? (Click to open or close)
You will be notified within 3–4 days after the school’s receipt of all required information, registration fee, and signed contract. Your decision letter should follow in about 7–10 days.
